Tax on betting in Cameroon: what it means for you
From 1 January 2025, the finance law brought electronic gambling and entertainment platforms under the tax on money transfers. Deposits and withdrawals tied to online betting are taxed at 1%, compared with 0.2% for an ordinary transfer, and a fixed charge of FCFA is added to every transaction. The Ministry of Finance has made clear that customers are the ones who pay it.

What this means on the ground: money that goes into your betting account and later comes out is taxed on both trips. Putting in 10,00 FCFA and taking the same amount back out costs around 20 FCFA, before the fixed charges. Withdrawing less often reduces how many fixed charges you pay, but the percentage stays the same.
Operators pay their own taxes on their gaming business separately. In 2026, the Directorate General of Taxes listed games of chance and sports betting among the pilot sectors for its real-time taxation, which targets the companies, not your ticket.
Getting your winnings
Withdrawing your winnings to Orange Money or MoMo
As a rule, sites that work in CFA francs pay winnings out to the same channel you used to deposit, which means straight to your Orange Money or MTN number. Allow extra time for your very first withdrawal, since that is usually the moment the bookmaker asks for proof of identity.
